‘Prangone mor dui banglar natto mela 19’ ended with Bismillah




'Some passion, some interest, some love and some sacrifice' – speaking about 'Bismillah', the latest play of the nine-day theater festival organized by 'prangone mor' theater, a prominent theater in our country. On the last day of the festival, December 03, the play was held at National Theater’s main hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The play is written by Sumna Kanjilal and directed by Anjan Kanjilal.

Nine-day theatre festival, titled ‘Prangone Mor Dui Banglar Natyamela 2019’ was started on December 06 at National Art Theater of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy with the slogan, Ami Banglay Bhalobashi, Ami Banglake Bhalobashi.

Over the past 16 years, the biennial (every two years) theater festival has been organized by Prangone Mor. It is the 11th edition of the festival which is supported by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh and High Commission of India, Dhaka.

Renowned actor and director Asaduzzaman Noor (MP) inaugurated the festival on December 7.  On inauguration program, Mr. KM Khaled (MP), Minister of State for Cultural Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest. On the other hand, Riva Ganguly Das, High Commissioner of the Indian Embassy in Bangladesh and Liaquat Ali Laki, Director General of Bangladesh Art Academy, were the special guests. The highlight of this year's theater festival was the showcasing of three plays from West Bengal and Delhi from India, and the presentation of six notable plays in Bangladesh.

Kolkata famous theater group titled ‘praxis theatre’ performed a drama named ‘art’ on the very first day of Nine-day theatre festival. The drama was directed by goutom saker. On 2nd day, ‘nandipat theater’ from kolkata staged drama named ‘abrito’ and it was by prakash bhattacharjo. On 3rd and 4th day ‘prangone mor’ staged their most popular theater named hasonjaner raja and pulsirat. Hasonjaner raja was directed by ananto hira and pulsirat was directed by toufiqul islam emon. On the fifth day, Kolkata's joke theater staged drama named 'Janto Hamlet'. On the sixth day, ‘biborton theater’ of jossore staged drama named koiborto gatha. It was directed by fayez zahir. The seventh day, aronnok nattodol staged drama 'moyur singhason' and It is directed by Shah Alam Dulal and on the eighth day Liaquat Ali Lakki directed the play 'amra tin jon'. Actress, director and organizer of the pragone mor theater, Nuna Afroz said, ‘Every year there are different events at prangone mor theater. We try to show quality plays to the audience. This year we tried to stage quality plays also from Bangladesh and India. it is our 11th edition. In the first place, the event was organized with only the Rabindra plays of Bengal. Next time I find it difficult to stage quality plays every year. Further more, drama cannot be shown more than once. From then on, all kinds of plays were included in the fair.

In addition, 13th December 10 am, free discussion was held at Bangladesh shilpokola academy titled what is the crisis? Audience or quality plays? Hassan Shahriar read out the papers and Swapan Roy, Malloy Bhowmik, Ahmed Iqbal Haider, Ratan Siddiqui, Mohammad Ali Haider, Rahman Raju were present as the keynote speakers. The prominent playwright was Mamunur Rashid as the president and Anant Hira as the conductor. On the same day at 6 p.m a award program titled ‘prangone mor nattojodhader sohojoddha 19’ was held and awarded to some prominent dramatist’s wives. The recipients of the award are the dramatist Mamunur Rashid's spouse, Gowhar Ara Chowdhury, Shahida Rahman, the wife of the protagonist Ataur Rahman, and Krishi Hefaz, the partner of the dramatist Liaquat Ali Lakhi.
